Hello everyone! It’s that wonderful time of the month where Altenew releases brand new stamps, dies, and more, and today is the Modern and Edgy Blog Hop showcasing the release. I’m excited to share my projects today including a pencil case! You can start today’s hop over on the Altenew blog, and the full hop list is at the end of this post.

My first two projects feature the eight brand new Mixed Media inks. You’ll remember how much I love these inks when they were first released (you can check out my video here) and so I’m excited Altenew is adding to the color range with some blues and yellow/brown shades. They’re perfect for crisp stamping on cardstock AND fabric or other mediums, so I decided to create a card and matching pencil case.

My card is a one layer card featuring the new Doodled Triangles stamp set. This has some fun graphic triangles, solid, and lines, that you can layer over each other. I stamped them at. random in shades of the inks, and then did the same with this simple canvas pencil case I picked up on Amazon.

I love the sentiments included in this set – really modern and inspirational – perfect to embellish the card or the pencil case! I actually used the MISTI to stamp both the card and the pencil case. It’s thin enough that it can be held down by the magnet, and allows double stamping over the seam if needed!

I added Warm Sunshine Metallic Spray splatters to the card and the case and then finished the card off with a few enamel dots.

My next card features the beautiful Rose Bouquet 3D Embossing Folder. I tried a technique I had seen Bibi Cameron try out by dry embossing with glossy white cardstock, with a little trial and error.

I started by inking up the embossing folder with some pink and purple inks, I think I used Fuchsia and Hydrangea, then I spritzed with water, added the cardstock carefully and ran it. through my die cutting machine. This presses the ink into the cardstock. I. removed it and ink blended Dark Night ink over the top with my ink blending tool, capturing the edges of the embossing which I spritzed and left to dry.

I then gave a good spritz of Soft Lilac Metallic Ink Spray and followed up with a fair amount of water. As this is glossy cardstock, it wicks out the metallic into some of the dips in the embossing adding a gorgeous contrast. I finished with a sentiment from the new Inky Lily stamped in Obsidian Pigment ink, and a few purple gems.

My final two cards feature a couple of different ways to use patterned paper. The new release includes the Mesmerizing Pours 6×6 pack which mimics acrylic paint pouring (but much less messy!) I chose two sheets, one featuring green-blue colors and one with pink, and stamped the Inky Lily florals over the pink and the leaves on the green, using embossing ink. I then heat embossed using Rose Gold embossing powder and die cut them out with the coordinating dies. I also die cut some 110lb cardstock for each and adhered them together for a little bit more sturdiness.

I arranged my images on a white panel trimmed just smaller than A2,and adhered with foam tape. I also stamped some of the inky stamp images with Parrot ink to coordinate with the greens in the paper and added a few clear confetti sequins. The sentiment is heat embossed in white and is from the Doodled Triangles set.

My second patterned paper card features simple die cutting. Choose a die from your stash that is large enough to cover a full. A2 card, and has a fair bit of solid area to it, then pair it. with your favorite sheet from a pad.

Here I chose to use the leaves from the Decorative Swirls die set from an earlier release, and paired them with the gorgeous lilac and blue paper. I once again backed them with an added layer of white cardstock then mounted them onto my notecard alongside clear sequins and a few splatters of Soft Lilac Metallic ink spray. The sentiment is heat embossed in Antique Silver and is from the Inky Lily set.
