Hello there everyone! I hope you’re enjoying your spring weekend – let’s get it off to a good start shall we? Time for a new Altenew Paint-A-Flower! This month’s flower is a part of a really interesting image, very different from previous images – it’s the Lotus! And its part of a scene that even has a teeny fish! Don’t you love it! My post today is part of a hop that starts at the the Altenew blog, if you didn’t already land here from Lilith’s blog I’d recommend heading there first. Of course there’s also a giveaway so stay tuned!

Of course, I went for no line watercolor. I stamped in pale ink (Vanilla Cream) and colored with Altenew 36 pan watercolors on hot press watercolor cardstock – smooth cardstock which is easier to stamp on when doing detailed stamps like this.

This image was a little tricky to color! Altenew’s detailed watercolor brushes were handy to add those little darker contrasting details, like on the leaves, fish and rocks. When I finished painting the main image, and largely dried, I swept the flat brush across the image with watered down blue mix of watercolors to create an underwater look, which also blurred the image slightly like it was under water! I also added pale splatters for a little bit of ‘wind’ outside.

To finish, when it was all dry, I stamped the sentiment directly over the top in Obsidian black ink, then mounted to a white note card.
