Hi everyone! May is already a week in can you believe it? Is it just me or is this year is going super fast? May is my favorite month of all, and today’s newly released Craft-A-Flower from Altenew is the perfect May welcome. I used to pick buttercups at lunch time on the school field in England! (Also we used to hold them under our chins and the yellow reflected on our skin, it meant we liked butter, which of course, it always did!).

Today’s post is part of a blog hop. If you didn’t come here from Maryam’s blog, you can start the hop over at the Altenew blog. Stay tuned for details of a giveaway!

I decided to create my buttercups in red. I know not quite realistic but I actually wanted to see if they would look like poppies if I did them in red. And I think they definitely give off a poppy vibe!

I die cut mine from Red Sunset Gradient for the flowers and some scraps of green cardstock I had in my stash using my Mini Blossom (so cute and perfect for lots of die cutting of small pieces). I used liquid glue to adhere them altogether then arranged on a panel of white cardstock with foam tape. I also added a die cut circle from the Circular Elements die set, cut from rustic cream cardstock, to ‘ground’ the flower.

I splattered the card with Warm Sunshine Metallic Spray, and for my sentiment, I die cut the ‘Thank You’ from the Simple Greetings die set from gold mirror cardstock and vellum, layering them together with glue. I mounted it over the top using clear foam tape to finish then mounted on a white notecard.

  9. I think they seem a bit poppy-ish, but I like the red hues! They are a bit different and if you are not a flower ace, then one just enjoys the beauty of them and they are quite lovely! A nice twist on the buttercup if you ask me. You didn’t, but I am telling you anyhow; that they are quite lovely!
