Hi Everyone! It’s time for new Paint-a-Flower from Altenew and this one is soo cute! It’s the Chamomile! And there is an adorable image in the set that has the flowers growing out of a teacup. (I’m a brit, we love a good teacup stamp!).

Today’s post is part of a blog hop featuring the new Paint-a-Flower:Chamomile. You can start at the beginning at Altenew’s blog, and stay tuned for details of a giveaway and the next stop!

I couldn’t resist choosing the teacup image to paint (there’s also a small vase stamp) and decided to go for no line watercolor look, using Artists Watercolors. I stamped the teacup in Vanilla Cream onto hot press watercolor cardstock. I like this ink for no-line watercolor as it is visible but covers up when painted, and also is a great outline for Chamomile due to the pale yellow/white color of the petals.

I used a small round watercolor brush from Altenew to paint the image, adding pale colors at first, then as it dried going back and adding darker colors over the top, adding shadow where there would be depth, such as down in the bottom of the saucer and inside the teacup. I also added in details with finer paintbrushes such as the stems, flower centres and the teabag string (there’s a teabag! SO cute!)

I added a few pale brown splatters and then fussy cut out the image. You’ll see I also added a few white gel pen highlights on the teacup, flower centres, and polka dot pattern.

For the background, I decided to color coordinate the teacup by creating an ombre ink blend using Coral Berry ink up a panel of Spicy Yoghurt cardstock with my ink blending tool. I added a few water splatters, then die cut out the panel with the Dotted Scales Debossing Cover Die and adhered it to a white notecard.

I adhered the Chamomile to the ink blended panel and then added a sentiment from the set stamped in Obsidian Pigment ink (just LOVE this sentiment). I finished with a few orange and coral toned Nuvo Jewel Drops to coordinate.
