Hello there! I am so happy to be part of DAY 1 of the Blog Hop celebrating Altenew’s 7th anniversary! You should have arrived here from the awesome Svitlana’s blog. If not, head on over to start on this hop at Altenew’s blog. There’s tons of beautiful inspiration and a giant GIVEAWAY!!

For me, the past year guest designing for Altenew has been a dream come true, and I’m sure I’m not alone in wondering how Altenew manages to create such amazing monthly releases literally every time. And finally we got embossing folders – 3D no less! I have quietly wished (and voted for) embossing folders from Altenew for a very long time so WOOHOO there’s now a huge selection of them and aren’t they gorgeous? So of course I’m featuring one on today’s project. I also wanted to feature some other products that either were some of my faves of the year, or a newly discovered product that I seem to suddenly use a LOT after never using it at all! (Washi!)

To create my card I dry embossed a panel of white cardstock with the Majestic Bloom 3D embossing folder towards the edge of the panel, and then to highlight the raised image, I lightly rubbed the Antique Gold Pigment Ink pad over the top to add subtle gold highlights.

Something else I was excited to try last year and have continued to have fun creating with is layering floral dies. They are fab for creating dimension and impact on cards and I love them. On my card today, I’m featuring the Climber Flowers layering die set. I decided to create the layers using more unusual types of cardstock combinations – I used Solar White, gold mirror, dark gray and jet black cardstock, and I also overlaid some cardstock with the Deco Lines Washi Tape then die cut that for one of the layers too (you can see the black with gold stripes in the flower centres).

I arranged the flowers over the dry embossed panel. I then also added in a few branches die cut using my favorite new staple die set from this past year – the Branches and Berries dies. On those included here, some are die cut from Jet Black cardstock heat embossed with a dark silver embossing powder, and one (on the lower right) is die cut from cardstock covered with the gorgeous Foiled Marble washi tape.

My sentiment is one of my favorites from any stamp set this year. It was included on the Poppy Arrangement stamp set and I heat embossed it in Pure White onto Jet Black cardstock which I die cut with the smallest rectangle from the Nesting Slim Rectangles die set, then mounted onto my card with foam tape. I nestled it into the flowers to integrate it to the overall arrangement. As a finishing touch, I added some Antique Gold sequins, mounted on a notecard, then rounded the outer corners.
