Oh it’s a fun release day today from Altenew! The Love & Friendship Blog Hop is showcasing some gorgeous new designs from Altenew. Of course there is a giveaway, and I included the full hop list at the end of this post.

For my first three cards today (yes I made a LOT!) I’m featuring the Fresh Cut Roses stamp set. It has two very large blooms in it that are just perfect for coloring. My first card features the large bouquet, and I heat embossed them onto a panel of hot press watercolor cardstock, using Golden Peach embossing powder.

I watercolored the image in with Altenew’s Watercolor Brush Markers building up the layers from a peachy color adding more intense pink-red to create shadows, and then also painted very pale pink for the ‘sky’, then added lots of splatters. The sentiment was stamped in Grapevine Multimedia ink and I scattered a few sparkling clear sequins for subtle sparkle.

I created another watercolor card with the same set using the other main floral image. This time I stamped it twice by using a stamp positioning tool and flipping the cardstock. I focused on more of a peachy color for these florals, and a grayer background.

This time I heat embossed the sentiment and trimmed it out, popping it up on foam tape onto the centre, followed by a few sequins.

My final card that feature this rose set also features the newly released Foiled Marble Washi Tape. I completely covered a panel of white cardstock with the washi (it’s wide enough that two strips are just about sufficient) and then dry embossed it with the Organic Linen 3D embossing folder. This serves to both adhere the washi tape more firmly, and adds a beautiful texture – I mounted the panel (trimmed to 5 x 3.75) onto a white note card with foam tape.

I heat embossed the rose image onto vellum and then fussy cut it out and adhered it to the washi panel with clear foam tape. My sentiment is from a previously released Essential Sentiments dies, cut from Gold Mirror cardstock. I decided the card needed one last addition, so I stamped one of the Painted Hummingbirds in Pale Mauve ink, die cut it out and mounted onto the front with a foam square (with a little Glaze gel pen for the eye) – I finished with a few Satin Gold Sequins.

My next card features the Queen Anemone stamp set and coordinating stencil and die set. I dry embossed my background panel using the Organic Linen 3D embossing folder (I used Spicy Yoghurt cardstock). I then used the recently released Northern Shore set of inks to stamp and ink blend the the anemone flowers. For one of the layers you’ll see I actually used Antique Gold pigment ink!.

For the leaves, I stamped with Pale Mauve, and ink blended the shading using the stencil. i also added some more contrast by edging the leaves using the Antique Gold ink with a blending tool. I mounted all of the leaves and flowers onto the panel and to finish, I stamped the sentiment ‘breathe’ using the new Tall Alpha Lowercase stamps and die cut them out. These are create for tight spaces as the letters are narrow and can be pushed together quite easiliy. I added a few pale blue jewels to finish.

I had a floral left over so created another similar card with the set, this. time tweaking to add Mint leaves instead of Pale Mauve.

I stamped ‘feel well’ in Antique Gold and die cut them out, and arranged all of the components in a similar way as before. This is the second time I’ve used a left over floral or leaf to create a second card – always recommed stamping in a little more than you need while you have all your supplies out! A little tip – the Organic Linen embossing folder is create for creating a distress look – the edges of the dry embossed panels can be frayed by gently rubbing them as I did on this card – to create a more vintage look and feel.
