New release time over at Altenew!

It’s time for the Altenew Winter Essentials Blog Hop!! You should have arrived here from the wonderful Therese, all of the links on the hop are at the end of this post in case you get lost, along with details on a giveaway! Or you can head on over to Altenew’s blog to start at the start!

This release features some amazing new dies, and many are very versatile, perfect for your stash staples. I’m sharing three projects today, which I hope will inspire you. Below are the supplies I’m using from the new release on today’s projects. The release is even bigger!

My first card features the Altenew Layered Gift Tag Heart Die Set. This release includes several similar double die sets, one a solid, one with a sentiment, which are perfect for creating layered tags for gifts. I’m just using one today to create a shaker card.

I die cut the heart from a panel of patterned paper from the Essential Rock Collection which I spattered with Antique Gold spray. I backed it with acetate and a double layer of foam tape all around the opening, I then added lots of heart sequins into the centre and backed it with a white notecard.

I used the Linear Pathway Alpha Solid dies to create the word H-O-P-E die cut from red cardstock and red adhesive backed fun foam adhered together. I also lightly brushed some grey at the bottom for depth before adhering to the shaker window. I finished with gold dot embellishments.

My next card features the AMAZING Jumbo Garden Picks Layering Die Set. This die is GIANT and can be a little intimidating at first, but it’s super easy to work out thanks to Altenew’s groupings and clear layering guide. I created my own custom cardstock by swiping inks over panels of cardstock and allowing to dry. The colors I used are linked in the supplies – basically almost all of the Tranquility, Sugar Plums and Fall Harvest sets!

Once the inks were dry, I die cut the pieces and adhered them all together with the new Altenew 2-in-1 Glue Pen. This is a roller ball glue pen that allows fine lines of adhesive to be applied and is super easy to use. For my background, I die cut the Stacked Diamonds Cover Plate (from a previous release) from Gold Mirror cardstock and glued it to a white notecard. I then arranged my die cut florals and leaves using foam squares and glue over the top.

My sentiment is from the new Essential Sentiment Strips Die Set, packed choc full of fabulous sentiments. I die cut ‘Hang In There’ from the same Gold Mirror cardstock and popped it over the top of the florals then scattered a few gold dot embellishments to finish. This die set realllly makes a big impression for that special someone in your life!

My final card for today features the Linear Pathway Alpha Solid and Outline dies (these sets can come as a bundle too!). I created a watercolor smushed background using Hydrangea, Fuchsia, Pink Pearl inks, which I then die cut with the Alpha Solid dies to spell out ‘For All You Do’. (I thought this could be a great sentiment for a card to let healthworkers, grocery store workers, teachers, emergency services or any one we want to really thank in the current situation). I also die cut the same letters with the Alpha Outline letters from gold mirror cardstock and adhered them using the 2-in-1 Glue Pen.

I mounted the die cuts onto a white background dry embossed with the Beautiful Bergenia embossing folder using thin strips of foam tape. I used a t-ruler to make sure they lined up perfectly then mounted the panel onto a white note card.
