Hello there, and welcome to my stop on the anniversary hop celebrating Altenew turning six. I can still remember when Altenew’s first stamp sets came out and were sold out for soooooooo long, I grabbed Vintage Roses when it was back in stock and the rest is history. Altenew have been one of my all time favorite stamping companies since that time. I love the trend setting, the delicate flowers, and always the paints! I was lucky enough to guest for them in recent months and am super excited to be joining them to celebrate on this hop today. The stops on the hop and the details on PRIZES are later on this post. Thank you to the wonderful sponsors who have been supporting the anniversary!

I also hope everyone is staying healthy and safe out there. I’m in New York and things are more than a little nerve-wracking here. I don’t know about you, but card-making and crafting have been a welcome respite, and I’m glad Altenew decided to carry on with the celebrations. The hop has been brightening my days and be sure to watch Altenew’s video to learn about how they have donated to relief organisations during this time.

My first card today features Altenew’s Wallpaper Art stamp set. This is one of my favorite flower sets to color – I love the wide open spaces and the size of the blooms. I heat embossed them and the leaves in Altenew Golden Peach embossing powder onto hot press watercolor cardstock and then watercolored them with my Altenew 36 pan watercolor set. I first dropped clean water into each petal, then drew a line of Puffy Heart and pulled it out towards the edge of the petal. I went back and added a little Lavender Fields and let the colors blend together. When dry, I went back in and added a light wash of Carribean Sky and colored the centres with Cosmic Berry. For the leaves I simply used a wash of Persian Blue with a dab of Midnight Violet. When dry I fussy cut them out and set aside.

For my background, I dropped some clear water into the centre of a panel of watercolor cardstock, and then dropped some Puffy Heart, Lavender Fields and Pink Diamond, as well as adding some splatters with Antique Gold spray. When dry, I went over the top with some Altenew embossing paste using the Flowing Drops stencil.

I arranged the leaves and flowers with foam tape over the top of my panel which I trimmed to 4″ x 5.25″. For my sentiment, I used the Warm Hugs stamp set, and stampd the circular Be Happy sentiment in Cosmic Berry ink (to co-ordinate with the flowers) and the You Are the Sweetest in Plum ink, trimmed out and popped up on the card. A few iridescent bubbles were added to embellish!

So my next card was a bit of a labor of love. When I say this was not for someone looking to make a quick card, I’m not kidding 😀 It features the Polish Papercuts 3D dies. I have had these for a while and really been looking for some play time with them. The sky really is the limit. For the base of my card, I took a panel of Spicy Yoghurt cardstock, and ink blended the Linear Stencil in Dark Night in the centre, blending out to Nimbus ink over the panel, fading out towards the edges.

I then die cut the panel of Polish Papercuts. I did this by laying them out on my magnetic mat on my die cutting machine so I could cut them all at once, and running them through three times, once with gold mirror cardstock, once with pale gold glitter cardstock, and once with a piece of cardstock I had inked up half with Amethyst ink and half with Pale Mauve.

I spent a lot of time playing around with the pieces, arranging them onto my stencilled panel here and there, until I got them how I liked them. I did die cut a couple more of some shapes to complete a pattern then adhered them all with liquid glue and foam squares. The sentiment is from Ornamental Bliss, stamped in Plum and Dark Night onto Spicy Yoghurt and trimmed out. As a finishing touch I added Nuvo Dream Drops throughout to ‘bejewel’ the piece (holding my breath the entire time!)
