Hi Everyone and welcome to Day 1 of the New Craft Stash Blog Hop!  Today a massive bunch of us crafty folks are having a just for FUN three day blog hop! You’ll find the full list of stops at the bottom of this post.

We all have craft supplies that are either – new, new to us, or collecting dust as a “new” addition to our stash somewhere in the craft room, right?! Well…let’s break them out.  Every craft blogger at each stop on the hop is going to be breaking out their “new” craft stash to create projects to inspire you.

And of course, we couldn’t have a blog hop without prizes!  Thank you to our wonderful sponsors! Winners will be drawn from those who comment on all stops on the hop for all three days and include:

  1. Stampscapes – 2 prizes – Choice of Nature Sheet ($26.50 ea)
  2. Cas-ual Fridays – $25 GC
  3. Catherine Pooler – $25 GC
  4. Stamplorations – $20 GC
  5. Right At Home – $20 GC

OK so onto the cards that I’ve created today.  I broke out my Heidi Swapp Minc Reactive Mist and Heidi Swapp Magic Medium (Clear).  Both of these products, when dry, enable you to foil with them.   I have used the mist but not for AGES.  YEARS.  So long ago in fact that I had to soak the tip in some warm water to be able to use it again.  I’ve never used the Magic Medium.

To start, I took some panels of Canson Watercolor XL cardstock trimmed to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and spritzed a few of them with the Reactive Mist.  It’s quite thick so you need to hold it quite far away (12-18 inches) and ensure you use a box to stop the mist going everywhere.  When it dries, it dries hard.

You can move your hand back and forth to get some cool wavy lines like the one I created above.  When you’re happy, set aside to dry.  Depending on how much you used, you may need to leave it over night.  All of mine dried for about 10 hours before I foiled them.

For the card above, I just flicked on the mist by removing the nozzle.

On a couple of the projects, I actually tried using a stencil to spritz the mist over, but I had limited success, but it did give a bit of a different effect.  For example, in the project below I used a Moroccan stencil by Hero Arts – there are hints of the stencil in places.

Overall the look isn’t very clear though.  Be sure to dunk your stencils in warm water before the mist dries on them! (Ask me how I know!)

Once all of my pieces were dry, I ran them through my Minc machine with various colors of foil.  For the card at the top I used gold, for the Kiss! card I used Opal, and for the stencilled card, I used Rainbow.   For the card below I used Watermelon.  All are by Thermoweb Deco Foil.

After foiling, I decided to add some shimmery watercolor over the top.  The foiling resists the water and you can get some really fun looks.  I decided to use subtle pearly colors.   All are from my 72 set Kissho Gansai Tambi watercolor set which I love, and don’t get out enough!!

For my final card, I wasn’t quite ready to give up on the stencilling.  So I got the Magic Medium and squirted some onto a craft mat (it’s similar to a runny paint).  I used a sponge to dab the medium randomly over a stencil onto Catherine Pooler Premium White cardstock and this worked MUCH better.  Check it out:

I foiled this one with my favorite foil – Iridescent by Thermoweb Deco Foil.

To finish each of the cards, I dove back into my stash.  Hands up who has a zillion chipboard and acrylic stickers? ME!   They’re often overlooked and so I broke them out to finish all of these cards.  I used Crate Paper Hello Love epoxy stickers, and some random chipboard images that don’t have a label on which I have been hoarding 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the cards and you’re starting to feel inspired to dust off that stash!  Don’t forget to comment to win.  The full list of stops on the hop today are below. Your next stop on the hop is the awesomely amazing Ashlea!
