Hi Everyone!

It’s a new month and time for a new Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge.  This month, as usual, Anything Goes, and there is the optional twist of ‘Tag’ this month.  The winner will receive $20 to spend at Happy Little Stampers.

For my card, I didn’t go with the optional twist. In fact my card was one of those ones that you almost scrap about 4 times before it finally comes together – the lesson is, keep going!  To create my card, I die cut a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle from patterned paper from my stash that has a faux watercolor look.  I then adhered it down to a card base made from Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock with glue runner.

To create the heart, I used some Canson XL watercolor paper adhered to a board with tape and wet the surface.  I then painted stripes of colour using my Mijello Mission Gold watercolor, in graduating pinks and purples. I dried it then repeated (without the layer of water) to deepen the colour.  When dry I used my Finetec paints in different pink and purple colours to add some subtle shimmer.  However I could have skipped this step as you can’t really see it in the finished card.

I then stamped the Simon Says Stamp Ornate Background stamp in Versamark Ink over the top (be sure that the piece is super dry and use a powder tool to prep the surface) and heat embossed in Wow! embossing powder in Mint Macaroon.  The heart was die cut using a Winnie and Walter heart die and adhered to the background with foam squares.

For the sentiment, I used the CZ Designs Simple Sentiments, heat embossed onto a scrap of white cardstock in Ranger Superfine Silver embossing powder. I trimmed it out and adhered it to the heart with a stip of foam tape.

As a finishing touch I added some Sparkling Clear sequins adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive.

And that’s it! I won’t go into the twists and turns this card took before it ended up looking like it did (there WAS a tag at one point) – needless to say I’ve learned some lessons…

Have a fab day!

Jenny x
