Hi Everyone!

This week WOW! Embossing Powder & Newton’s Nook Designs are partnering up to bring you a fun-filled week of inspiration.  All week long both design teams are sharing ways to add WOW! Embossing Powder and Newton’s Nook Designs stamps and dies to our creations!

There are also prizes to be won! Stay tuned to the end of the post to find out what you can win – and how!

So onto my cards! Many of you may know the super cute Newton stamps from Newton’s Nook Designs, but did you know they also have some gorgeous floral and more abstract stamps too?

My first card features the Blooming Botanicals stamp set which is a gorgeous burst of flowers perfect for a card front. To create this card, I first took an A2 size panel of white cardstock and placed it in my MISTI – a stamp positioner is key for this technique. I stamped the Blooming Botanicals with Antique Linen Distress Ink – something pale is ideal. Leave your stamp in the MISTI.

I then used my Faber Castell Polychromo pencils to color in the flowers, using them to do the blending for me. Most of the petals and leaves have two or three shades on them.

Once I finished coloring, I placed my panel back into the MISTI and restamped over the top using WOW! embossing ink. I then heat embossed with WOW! Copacabana. Unfortunately this has been discontinued but you can get almost the same look with Primary Soft Mango. It leaves a fun colored outline which darkens over some of the colors. I added some Clear Wink of Stella over the blue flowers and some Nuvo Glitter Drops in gold to the flower centres.

To finish the card, I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die and backed it with navy craft foam, then mounted it onto a 110lb card base. The sentiment was heat embossed on navy cardstock in WOW! Opaque Bright White and then die cut with a smaller stitched rectangle and popped up on foam tape. I won’t lie, coloring this in took well over two hours. You could achieve a similar look much more quickly using watercolors or brush markers!

For my second card, I’m using the Newton’s Nook Wedding Frills stamp set. I first heat embossed this onto navy cardstock in the upper centre of the panel in WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder. I then heat embossed the sentiment in WOW! Gold Rich Pale embossing powder – I’ve never thought to use the two together but they work really well!

I also added Clear Gloss embossing powder over the top of the Metallic Sparkle to keep any flecks of glitter sealed in. You can use a MISTI to make sure they line up perfectly.

I didn’t have the co-ordinating dies for this stampset but I wanted to turn this into a shaker, so I used a Hero Arts circle die to cut a circle out from the centre of the lace. I then flipped it and added a sheet of acetate for my window and bent some foam tape around the outer edge of the window, as well as placing it all over the back of the panel.

My shaker bits are a gold sequin mix (with matte and shiny sequins) to co-ordinate perfectly with the embossing powder. I then overlaid a white card base over the top to seal it all in. Super classy don’t you think?!
