Hi Everyone!

I’m so excited to be joining you today for a fun blog hop sponsored by WOW! Embossing Powder and Catherine Pooler designs.  You should have arrived here from Jen Carter’s blog.  If you get lost along the way, the full list of bloggers is at the end of this post.  There are prizes to be won for leaving a comment on each stop on the hop so stay tuned for details on how to win.

WOW! were so kind to give me my pick of a few of their fabulous powders and glitters. I’ve created three cards today with some of the more unusual powders (and a glitter), showcasing some different techniques.  I’m also re-visiting the brilliant Love is in the Air Collection by Catherine Pooler Designs.  This was originally released as a Stamp of Approval in January this year, and is now available to buy individually – woop woop!

DIY Glitter Cardstock

I created my own glitter cardstock for my first card, using WOW! Your Carriage Awaits Sparkles Glitter.  You can see the creative process in this video, over on my You Tube channel.

This glitter is absolutely stunning – it has a base of fine creamy glitter, with big chunks of iridescent glitter throughout.

It adheres to cardstock without flaking off, and die-cuts perfectly, even with the intricate Sunburst die I used for this card.

I also adore the WOW! Glintz embossing powders – I used Oyster and Rose here.  They add gorgeous subtle sheeny color.  Perfect for a soft pastel look.

All Over Embossing Panel

My second card uses embossing powder all over the card panel, overlaying layers to create the image.   For this technique, you first need a good base of embossing powder.  I used WOW! Iris which is a blend of deep lilac and pale lilac.  I applied Versamark embossing ink all over a panel of white cardstock trimmed to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  I then applied the Iris powder all over the panel and heat set it.  I repeated this twice more (make sure the powder is cool before you add the next layer of Versamark to avoid messing up your ink pad).

I then put the panel in my MISTI and overlaid the map images from the CPD The World Awaits stamp set.  I inked them up in Versamark (use your powder tool on the Iris panel first) and stamped over the top of the Iris panel.  I heat embossed the map in Frozen and held the heat gun on a little longer to melt the Frozen into the Iris for a completely smooth finish.

The sentiment is from Love is in the Air and was stamped in WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle and heated to melt it in to the Frozen/Iris.  I adhered the panel to a white card base.  This is a really fun way to get a totally smooth, ‘one layer’ card using just embossing powder.

Embossed Embellishments

My final card uses the star die from the Bon Voyage Accoutrements die set.  I die cut it five times from white cardstock, and then applied Versamark all over each one and heat embossed.  The powders I used were WOW! Iridium (a sparkly rust color) and Perissa (an amazing chunky powder mix of silver, gold and fine copper – so unusual).  I did two layers for each star, and then for a sheen, I added a layer of Clear embossing powder over the top.  This gives a gorgeous gloss and thickens the stars into embellishments for your projects.

For the background, I used Canson XL watercolor cardstock, and blended Catherine Pooler Inks in Black Jack, Juniper Mist, Daydream and Stone Blue from top to bottom.   I spritzed it with shimmer spritz and flicked white paint to create a starry background.  When fully dry (and applying a powder tool), I stamped the sentiment from The World Awaits with Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder.

I adhered the stars across the panel with liquid adhesive and then added Golden Sunset Nuvo Glitter Drops throughout the panel for extra sparkle!

So – no blog hop is complete without some prizes. Are you ready for some awesome giveaways?  Be sure to comment on all of the stops on the hop to win. Up for grabs:
