Hi Everyone!

It is time for a new stencil release from Altenew, and this one is fabulous! There is a blog hop today, and if you’re hopping along, you’ll have arrived here from Nicole Watt’s blog. All of the stops on the hop, as well as details of PRIZES can be found at the end of this post. You can also head on over to Altenew’s blog for more details.

Here’s a look at all the newly released stencils:

I’ve created tons of cards for this stencil release, and I’m featuring two of them in this video. It features how you can use simple masking with your stencils for a big effect.

My first card features the Color Block Triangle stencil. I added some masking with purple tape and blended with Dark Night ink, fading out towards the top. I love the Altenew large ink blending tool – super nice on the wrist! Before I removed the stencil, I outlined the shapes with gold gel pen which looks fab against the dark ink.

I also used the Bold Greetings die cut from matte gold cardstock and stacked with white for my sentiment.

My next card features a similar technique, with the Castle Motifs stencil and Andromeda ink. Before applying my stencil, I die cut the word ‘hello’ using the Hello and Hugs die set from masking paper and added it to the centre of my panel. I then ink blended over the top, outlined with a Silver gel pen, and then removed the stencil and masking paper.

I then used the Hello and Hugs coordinating stamp set to stamp Hello in the masked area with Altenew Obsidian Pigment ink – this works great for a one layer card!

My next card features the Woven Stencil. I was inspired to feature some stitching to co-ordinate with the weave pattern, while letting the stencilled background be the feature! I used Spicy Yoghurt cardstock, and ink blended Magenta and Baby Pink ink over the stencil, with the darker ink. around the edges.

I then die cut the panel with the String Art Heart Die, and stitched the heart with the Altenew Metallic threads using two different shades.

The sentiment is from the Peony Spray stamp set, heat embossed in white embossing powder on black cardstock, then trimmed out and popped up on foam tape.

My final card for today (and I have a lot more to share later this week) features the Mod Circles stencil. I overlaid it on black watercolor cardstock (by Legion) and outlined the circles with a pencil, so they could just faintly be seen when I removed the stencil.

I then used my Metallic Watercolors to color in the circles. The paints show up fabulously on the black watercolor cardstock. I trimmed out the panel to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and then added a couple more half circles to add more on the A2 size.

To finish, I heat embossed the ‘Thank You’ circular sentiment from the Many Thanks stamp set in white embossing powder on black cardstock, die cut it out and popped it up on foam tape. I added a few Nuvo White Gloss drops to finish.
