Hi Everyone!

Spellbinders has a new release out and it includes the brand new Halloween Collection from APG by Becca Feeken! I’m excited to show you the two ‘cards’ I created with the collection – I use the term ‘card’ loosely – they certainly could be given as cards but they’re SUPER dimensional and great for decor as well! I particularly love the nesting dies in this. release! One of my projects is definitely giving off Halloween vibe, but they other is an any day of the year project!

Both of my projects feature the Spooky Boo and Nestabilities Nested Clipped Squares dies. For the traditional Halloween card, I used fun Halloween cardstock colors. I started by doing all of my die-cutting first.

First off, I die cut two webs, the spider and the bat from FSJ Black Licorice cardstock. I also took two of the Clipped Squares, adhered them together and die cut a frame (Note there is one size of die in between the two I used. You would get a much thinner frame if using nesting squares of closer sizes). I used the larger of the squares to die-cut the centre of a panel of FSJ Electric Lime which, as it was to be my front panel, I also die cut with rectangle die from the Nestabilities Essential Rectangles.

I then took a panel of FSJ Pretty Amethyst and FSJ Tangerine Fusion cardstocks and cut smaller windows by using smaller nesting dies. I also die cut the cat from Tangerine Fusion. Finally, the ‘Boo’ was die cut from FSJ Silver Mirror cardstock and Black Licorice and adhered together.

I adhered one of the webs behind the lower right hand corner of the Pretty Amethyst window, and adhered the other over the front top left of the green panel, then the black frame over the top of that. I adhered all of the cardstock frames together with foam tape. For my shaker i added a small panel of acetate on the back of the Tangerine panel and then created a foam tape ‘well’ for my sequins.

My sequins are a mix from Pretty Pink Posh (Pumpkin), Studio Katia (Caribbean Mist) and a mix from my stash. I added them to the ‘well’ and then sealed the back with a panel of Whip Cream cardstock. I then popped it all onto a note card. To finish I added the Boo with glue dots, and the cat, bat and spider with foam squares. I also embellished with Nuvo Drops in Simply White.

For my next card, I wanted to use the dies for another time of year. I decided to use the Clipped Squares and die cut all of them out different colors of FSJ cardstock to create a rainbow tunnel!! I was inspired by this card by the amazing Channin To do this, you need to first grab all your cardstock colors, and you need one more than there are dies. There are 7 nesting dies in the set so I grabbed 8 cardstock colors. I used Watermelon Fusion for my front piece (the largest die), then in order: Pretty Amethyst, Pool Play, Beach Ball, Electric Lime, Lemon Drop, Tangerine Fusion and Candy Apple.

When die cutting, I cut each panel first with the largest Nestabilities Essentials Rectangle so all my panels were the same size. I then die cut the first top panel, then lined it up on my Platinum 6 with the layer below it and added the next frame die, removed the previously die cut panel and ran it through. I repeated until all but the Candy Apple panel was cut, (which is my back panel) then adhered them all together using foam tape – which makes for a VERY dimensional tunnel! I then adhered it to a white card base leaving a small border.

I die cut the ‘Hey’ (from Hey Boo) from FSJ Silver Mirror cardstock and again from Whip Cream, adhered them together and popped it into the middle with glue. A few more White Nuvo Drops finished the card!

I hope this inspires you, and gives you some ideas on how you can use this collection for more than just Halloween!
