Hi Everyone and welcome to Day 2 of the Stamp of Approval Love Is In the Air Collection Blog Hop!  If you arrived here from Melissa’s blog then I hope you’re having lots of fun seeing all of the inspiration for the new SOA Collection.   If you arrived here directly then I highly recommend starting at Catherine’s blog first for the full blog-hoppy experience!

If you’re not familiar with Stamp of Approval, you’ll find out a lot about it by checking the info on Catherine’s blog. In a nutshell, it is a quarterly themed collection of stamping products that all co-ordinate and can be used alone or together along with some cardstock or other embellishments  to create fantastic cards.

This collection is AMAZING!!! (and I’m not just saying that – when I saw it I literally squealed).  The stamps and dies have been revealed this week, and there’s a mystery ink included that you’ll see when you receive your box (it’s GORGEOUS). Stamp of Approval Collections sell out like hotcakes so get on the waiting list in time for release on January 9th!  And if that’s not all, the Collection comes with a downloadable Project Guide with tonnes of ideas to inspire you.

I have a few projects to share with you that I made using the new collection and different techniques – it was SO much fun to play with and there are some amazing staples in it that you’ll be reaching for again and again.

Love Is In The Air Balloons – using a letterpress technique

My first project uses the Love Is In The Air stampset and co-ordinating dies, the Sunburst die, Bon Voyage stampset and the Postage Stamp dies. Those postage stamp dies layer and are so versatile.

I created the sun using a letterpress technique. I  die cut the Sunburst 4 times from thick cardstock and vellum and adhered them together, with the vellum as the bottom layer.  I then inked up the vellum with Catherine Pooler ink in Tiara and ran it through my die cutting machine using an embossing sandwich over white cardstock.  This leaves a gorgeous stamped image with a slight debossed look!

The balloons from the stamp set were stamped in Catherine Pooler inks in Mandarin Spice, Tiki Torch, and Bellini. The Bon Voyage sentiment is from the Bon Voyage stamp set, stamped in Tutti Fruiti.  I layered up the die cuts on fun foam and foam squares, and embellished with Glossy Accents and Nuvo drops in Orange Marmalade which perfectly co-ordinate with the inks!

Rainbow Love – using inks as watercolors

My next project uses the Love die from the collection and the awesome border stamp from the huge The World Awaits stampset.  I cut down a piece of white Catherine Pooler Designs cardstock (amazing for stamping) to A2 size and placed it in my MISTI. I masked off a heart shape in the centre and then used my MISTI to stamp the border in Catherine Pooler Black Jack ink.  The MISTI helped me keep the stamps evenly spaced, by moving my cardstock down two squares each time.   I then removed the mask and trimmed 1/8th inch off each side and popped it up on a card base with fun foam.

Did you know you can also watercolor with CP inks?  You can! And they work amazingly. To create the rainbow love, I smooshed Catherine Pooler inks onto the large Catherine Pooler Designs acrylic block and spritzed with water.  The inks I used were Sauna, Flirty Fuchsia, It’s A Girl, Party Dress, Fiesta Blue, Grass Skirt AND THE MYSTERY INK :D.  I then painted thin strips along a piece of watercolor cardstock, letting each color blend into the other. I dried it then went back over it again with the same colors. When dry, I die cut it using the Love sentiment and an additional 3 times from white watercolor cardstock.  I stacked them together with spray adhesive and adhered to the card.  I embellished with a few sparkling clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins.  The sentiment is from the Happiness Enclosed stamp set, white heat embossed on grey cardstock.

Ends of the Earth – using ink smooshing

For my final card, I went FULL SMOOSH. I smooshed Catherine Pooler inks in Sweet 16, It’s A Girl and It’s a Boy onto a sheet of acetate and spritzed with water.  I then dabbed it onto some white watercolor cardstock, dried it, dabbed it again, dried it.  I trimmed it then dry embossed one of the stitched frames from the Postage Stamp dies into the card using my die cutting machine and an embossing sandwich.

I heat embossed the sentiment from The World Awaits stamp set in silver embossing powder over the top.  I then stamped the small and TEENY heart from the Love Is In The Air stampset in the same colors and added some sparkling clear sequins to embellish. I popped the panel up onto a white card base using fun foam.

  11. Gorgeous cards. In Love yet Again! Love being a StampNation member. I love the Stamp of Approval collections because everything in it works so well together you don’t have to think about it. The cards practically make themselves. I love just how many different ways these products can be used together. Hard to choose a favorite product but I’m leaning really hard in the direction of those postage stamp dies.
