Hi Everyone,

I hope you have been able to have some relaxing time with you family over the festive season.   I certainly have been enjoying putting my feet up a little!  Today I have a quick and simple card to chime in the New Year, using a 3D Embossing Folder by Sizzix.  It was created for the current Time Out Challenges theme ‘New Beginnings’.

I created the card by dry embossing some gold mirror cardstock by Altenew using the Sizzix textured impressions Prism Geometrics 3D embossing folder.  I recently discovered these and they’re very cool. They give a really deep impression and a fabulous effect in real life.

I stamped the Happy sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Stained Glass Love set in Versamark and heat embossed with WOW! Gold Sparkle embossing powder onto a scrap of dark grey cardstock and die cut it out with the matching dies which I then popped up on foam tape onto the mirror card.  I stamped the New Year sentiment from Altenews’ Happy Holidays in Versamark onto the same grey card and heat embossed with Zing! Berrylicious embossing powder,  trimmed it out and popped it up on foam tape.  The entire panel was adhered with fun foam and double sided tape to a matching dark grey card base.

As a finishing touch I added some dots of Crushed Grape Nuvo Drops over the places in the Happy sentiment where the hearts are.

I hope you’ll join us for this week’s challenge, which runs until January 3rd 2018.  We are joined by a fabulous Guest Designer Patty, and there is a $15 voucher for the winner courtesy of Happy Little Stampers who have a new release!

Have a wonderful New Year!

  1. Wow what a great look this embossing plate gives, so dramatic especially in the gold. And you know I love purple and gold! I like the finishing touch of the nuvo drops-you work wonders with these x

  2. Such a festive card! I love this embossing folder, it’s stunning, and your use of gold mirror card really makes the pattern to show as it’s best!

  3. I had never thought of embossing foil cardstock – and it looks amazing – I can only imagine how fabulous it looks in real life! Love the sentiment too – simply beautiful!

  4. Dry embossing in of itself is a stunning technique. But have you ever tried enhancing that embossing with ink or even markers? I ve got two examples for you today on this technique! The first uses the new Neat Tangled Geometric die  (I love the crisp, modern vibe of this die). After running it through my die cutting machine in an embossing sandwich (we don t want to cut this, just emboss), I broke out some inks and daubers! With an assortment of bright Distress Inks, I used the die as a stencil and inked through the openings to make the raised portions of the panel colored. The result is a stunner!
