There is still time to play along with us at Time Out Challenges. This week we are focusing on Sympathy cards, with the optional twist of Distressing. We are joined this week by Sue as Guest Designer, who has created a beautifully classy and elegant card to inspire you (with one of my all time favorite dies). Sympathy cards are always tough to make, but they are also cards that we often unfortunately need on hand. For the winner this week, there is $15 to spend at Happy Little Stampers.
For my card this week, I used the Tim Holtz layering stencil ‘Wildflower’ and Bo Bunny Rose Gold glitter paste to create the image you see here. I created a card base from pale grey cardstock and also trimmed out a panel using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die.
Using a pallette knife, I held the stencil over the die cut panel and applied the glitter paste carefully. (Be sure to clean off your stencil and knife straight away) then left it to dry. I trimmed down a piece of vellum and added a sentiment by Power Poppy, heat embossed using The Ton’s Rose Gold embossing powder which I thought co-ordinated really well with glitter paste. Once the paste was dry, I added the panel to the base using fun foam for some dimension.
To finish, I folded the vellum strip around the panel and adhered with glue dots (hidden behind the panel. As a finishing touch I added Rose Gold sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.
That’s it! Lots of Rose Gold, but I think you’ll agree this is still quite a calm and hopefully peaceful card.
