Hi Everyone!

I’m so excited to have the privilege to be guest designing for Topflight Stamps today. I was thrilled for the opportunity and had so many ideas when these little Indigoblu Hocus Pocus beauties landed in my postbox – just perfect for halloween.  Topflight Stamps specialises in selling hard to find and different art type stamps from around the world.  They have some very cool stuff and these were no different.  I’ve used Indigoblu before – they’re red rubber stamps so you get a great, clear impression, and they are already foam mounted so there’s nothing left to do to prep, just stamp!

For my card today I used the cool window scene included in the set.  I stamped it onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I used my MISTI as this is a very solid stamp so required a couple of stamps to get a fully black image.  I then sprinkled over Ranger Superfine Clear Embossing powder and heat set it.  Versafine is a pigment ink so it stays wet longer, allowing you to heat emboss.

After embossing, I took my Distress mini ink blending tool and ink blended Distress inks over the stamp.   The embossed image resists the Distress ink so that it only goes where there is no embossing.  The look I was going for was a setting sun with a night sky, as if the figure in the window was looking out at the bats circling.   I imagine this to be a ruined church or cathedral. I used Squeezed Lemonade for the yellow nearest the bottom and then a touch of Fossilized Amber towards the tops of the windows and above the image .  I then blended Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire up towards the top, and finally some Black Soot for edges and towards the top to really bring out a night sky.  The ink blends fabulously on Bristol Smooth cardstock so you don’t have to try hard to get a smooth blend.

For the sky, I added some water splatters with my Distress spray bottle, and Mr Huey’s white spray which I sprayed and flicked on for larger and smaller stars. For shimmer I used Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz in Frost to give a really shimmery look.

To finish, I stamped part of one of the sentiments in Hero Arts white embossing powder on a scrap of black cardstock and popped it up on foam tape onto the panel.  The entire panel itself was backed with fun foam and adhered with glue runner to a black panel on  Neenah Solar White 110lb card base.

I wanted to create a Halloween card that was also quite versatile and could be used on a general occasion. I’m really pleased with how it turned out!  I had so much fun playing with the stamps, be sure to tune in next weekend when I will be back with one more card from the same set to show you!  The full set is below, be sure to go check out Topflight’s blog for more inspiration!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Jenny
