Hi everyone!

It’s time for another Time Out Challenge – this time we are CASE’ing Bev Brown‘s awesome card (see bottom of this post).  I loved this – such a pretty rainbow look. Bev runs Uniko and they are kindly sponsoring the challenge this week with 15 pounds for the lucky winner to spend in their store.  We are also joined by the wonderful Lucie as our Guest Designer this week.  She and the rest of the Design Team have come up with some awesome CASE’s of Bev’s card to inspire you.

For my card I used the wonderful rainbow from Bev’s card to create the background.   I used some Canson XL watercolor paper and my Peerless Watercolors.  I wet the paper first with clean water and then painted stripes of color over the background in a rainbow. I let it dry and then repeated the colors (without additional water first) and let it dry again.  Peerless blend SO well.   I then spritzed it with Tsukineko Shimmer Spray in ‘Sparkle’ all over.  LOVE THIS STUFF!  I adhered the piece to a 110lb Neenah Solar White card base.

I then took an 85lb Neenah Solar White card panel trimmed to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and die cut it using the Simon Says Stamp Birch Column die.  This die can be a little tricky to line up – just make sure that the lines on the tops of the trunks are parallel to the card panel top and you’ll get it straight 🙂  I would also recommend using a metal plate in your die cutting machine to be able to cut cleanly as it is quite an intricate die.

I adhered the piece to the watercolor back with foam tape – I had to trim it very thinly for 3 of the columns.  For the sentiment I used an older set from Simon Says Stamp called ‘I See You’ and heat embossed it in Hero Arts White embossing powder on a scrap of black card stock (I also added a small heart included in the set). I added it to the card with foam squares.  To finish, I scattered some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in sparkling clear.

That’s it – I hope you enjoyed it.  Here’s a picture of Bev’s card to feast your eyes on 🙂

  1. I am soooo behind on commenting Jenny – school stuff is still killing me. This is absolutely GORGEOUS. That die is fantastic, as does your shimmery rainbow background behind it! Wonderful take on Bev’s card. xx

  2. Sorry to be commenting so late on your CASE Bev card, Jenny… Work has been demanding lately and I’ve been half brain-dead on evenings! 🙂 Anyway, your card -your STUNNING card- Oh how I love it! Your use of that die cut is amazing and the background colors really pop behind it. What a great look. The black sentiment strip was the perfect choice, it adds a lot of contrast and interest. You rock!
