Sorry I’ve been quite quiet on here recently, I have recently returned from a two week holiday back to merry ol’ England and getting caught up when I returned has taken longer than I thought! Usual service will resume very soon. And speaking of not having much time, this is a reminder that there is still time to play along with this week’s Time Out Challenge. This week’s theme is ‘Autumn with the optional twist of speed stamping’. We are looking for people to make their cards in 10 minutes or less so get your timers ready!! (Although it’s not mandatory, it is fun). We are joined this week by the fabulous Elaine, be sure to check out her blog. Love her super cute and CAS card for our challenge to inspire you! And if that wasn’t enough, we are sponsored by Happy Little Stampers this week, with $15 to spend in their store for the winner!
OK so onto my card. So i did attempt the speed stamping. It nearly worked. 11 min 32 seconds. I think my fail was because I wanted to inlaid die cutting instead of just adhering the diecut directly onto the front. Ah well.
To create the card I trimmed some patterned wood look paper (autumnal I thought) from my stash, and using my MISTI and Versamark ink, I stamped leaves all over it from Winnie And Walter’s In Bloom: Rennes Leaves stampset. I heat embossed in Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold embossing powder.
I die cut the My Favorite Things Thanks sentiment from DCWV foil cardstock and also from the front of the patterned paper, saving all of the pieces that fit in between the letters. I then adhered the paper to a pre-cut and scored card base (I make these in batches from 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock so I’m good to go) using glue runner. I made sure that the glue runner was applied all over the front of the card base so that the Thanks foil die cut could then be ‘inlaid’ into the space. I also picked up and added in all the little pieces of patterened paper to create the inlaid look.
That’s it! Super simple, I can’t believe it still took me over 10 minutes – DOH! Next time.
Hope you have a wonderful week, see you soon!!
