Hi Everyone

I’m flying by for a quick card for the new Inspirational Challenge – Rural!  I have had the Power Poppy Prairie Cheer set for a while now and I thought it would be perfect for this card.   I stamped the Aster image from the set using my Mini Misti and Tombow Markers.  I colored directly onto the stamp with various markers and stamped multiple times onto Arches watercolor paper.   After each stamping I used water to move the color around.  Sometimes to add more colour I scribbled  a little of the marker on an acrylic block and picked it up with the paintbrush.   As a last stamp I stamped directly with the darker of each colour (green, oranges, reds, and brown) to show the detail of the stamp that you sometimes use during watercoloring.  If you notice the little ladybird on the leaf, that’s actually a separate stamp in the set (it’s teeeeeny). I stamped it first and then masked it before stamping the flower.

I went around the edge of the flower with a pale blue marker and dragged it out with lots of water. I then also added splashes of darker blue purple.  Once dried I added flicks of color.  I trimmed down the To give a more ‘rural’ look, I tore the bottom of the paper, and die cut a row of stitches at the top.  I also used a Papertrey Ink Linen Impression Plate to give the look of linen.

I embossed the sentiment from the same set in Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold over the image.

I adhered the whole piece to a Neenah Solar White 100lb  card base using white fun foam for dimension.

That’s it – hope you enjoyed!

Have a fabulous 4th July tomorrow if you celebrate!

Jenny

  1. What a bold flower! I like your bright color, your splatter, and the torn effect on the bottom of the feature panel. Thanks for playing with us at Inkspirational!
