Hi everyone!

There is still time to play along with us at Time Out Challenges.   This week it is time to be ‘Inspired by Words’, for which we have the phrase “Flowers and Friends Make Life A Garden”.  We are sponsored this week by the amazing STAMPlorations, who are kindly giving $15 for the winner! This week we also have a fabulous Guest Designer – Michele. I am so excited as I have loved her cards for ages.  They’re so creative and unique, be sure to check out her blog!

For my card this week, I was kindly provided one of the beautiful flower stamps by STAMPlorations to play with.  I chose a French Marigold (I don’t think I’ve seen any other marigold stamps around, this one is fab!)  I stamped the image using Versamark ink and my Misti onto Strathmore watercolor cardstock which I’d trimmed down with a Hero Arts Infinity Die rectangle. I then heat embossed the image using Wow Metallic Brass embossing powder (gorgeous rich very warm gold colour).

I then coloured directly onto the paper using my Kuretake Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (I have the 60 set – apologies I didn’t check the colours I used).  For all of the petals I used a dark orange for the shadows, blending it out with a medium orange and then went over the whole petal with the yellow.  These pens blend so beautifully.  Around the edge I went around in a pale grey blue in sections, and then pulled it out with my waterbrush.  The splatters were added using Dylusions spray in black.

I used a slightly larger rectangle die from the same set and cut out a piece of Neenah Desert Storm as a matting for the panel.  I then adhered it all together with double sided tape and glue runner onto a Neenah Solar White 110lb card base.   For my sentiment, I found this awesome (and perfect!) one in the new CZ Designs sentiment set (an absolute must have for your stash).  I heat embossed it on Desert Storm in the same Wow embossing powder and adhered with foam squares.

As a finishing touch I added some co-ordinating sequins from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards in Peach.  I had a lot of fun making this card, I just love the bright pops of colour you get when you go straight to paper with the Zigs!!  Please come join us over at the Time Out Challenges blog to take part 🙂
