Hi Everyone,

There is still time to play along with us at Time Out Challenge.  This week we are sponsored by the wonderful Happy Little Stampers and there is $15 up for grabs for the winner.  We are also joined by Guest Designer Ashwini, whose cards are absolutely stunning.  Be sure to check out her blog – just wow!

This week it is Home Sweet Home and we have a wonderful photo inspiration for you.  When I saw the gorgeous hummingbird on one of the pillows I knew I had to break out The Ton’s Hello Hummingbird.  It’s a 7 step layering stamp which is not so easy without a MISTI but luckily I have one 🙂

I stamped the humming bird using Simon Says Stamp inks – for the body I used Lake Shores, Scuba and Blue Violet.  I used Sunshine for the chest, layered with Delicata Copper for some glitz. The throat was Teeny Bikini and Hero Arts Raspberry Jam.  When stamped I used my Scan n Cut 2 to cut it out.

For the card base I cut a panel of Neenah Solar White 85lb card stock and used Winnie and Walter’s The Leaf Effect stencil along with Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxides to create the background.  I blended them gently together in the centre using an ink blending tool. I then dripped some water to oxidize the leaves.

For the shaker, I used My Favorite Things Single Stitched Line circle frames.  I cut one out of DCWV gold foil cardstock and another out of fun foam. I adhered the fun foam circle to the card panel and added in some Lucy’s Peach sequins.  I then glued some acetate to the back of the gold frame and adhered over the top.

The leaves were diecut several times from an old Studio Calico die I had, from Neenah over which I had blended Lake Shores. I then edged them with Audrey Blue by Simon.  To finish I adhered the card panel to a 110lb Neenah Solar White card base.  I then added the humming bird with liquid adhesive and foam squares, and slotted the leaves with a dab of glue behind the bird.  The sentiment is from the same set by The Ton which I heat embossed in white Hero Arts embossing powder on black card stock and adhered with foam squares.

It was quite an involved card, but I think it turned out pretty cool! I’m so glad I got to finally play with the Hummingbird.  (Do you ever get daunted by layering stamps!)  Here’s the image we’re playing with:

Be sure to head on over to the Time Out Challenges blog to see what the rest of the team have come up with!
