Hi everyone!

It’s time for another Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge!  This month, as usual Anything Goes, but there is an optional twist of using Blue on your project. The winner of this month’s challenge will receive $20 to spend in the Happy Little Stampers shop.

We are joined this week by a Guest Designer and my wonderful friend Stephanie who has created such a pretty card using Mermaids – LOVE IT!!! Be sure to head on over to her blog and check out all the other beauties on show.  She is so talented and creative!!

For my card this week I also went for an underwater theme (completely independently of Stephanie I promise!)  I created an ombre wash of color on a piece of watercolor cardstock using my Peerless watercolors.  I love these for washes as they are so translucent and subtle – it’s much easier to build up colour where you need it, and they blend beautifully.  I created a layered wash (letting it dry a couple of times before adding another layer on top) with a variety of blues.

When it was dry, I diecut the panel using my Hero Arts Infinity dies rectangles (the 2nd largest) and the AWESOME Hero Arts Reef Fancy Frames die. To the back of this panel I adhered some glorious holographic paper I got in a card kit from Hero Arts. It’s super shimmery and I need more of it. I then adhered the entire panel to a Neenah Solar White card base using fun foam for dimension.

For the sentiment I used the Happy Little Stampers Fun Birthday Sentiments which I stamped and heat embossed in Ranger Superfine Silver embossing powder onto a scrap of black cardstock. I then popped it up on foam squares.  As a finishing touch I created ‘bubbles’ using Nuvo drops in Silver Moondust and Aquatic Mist.  They really do look like bubbles!!

That’s it, I hope you enjoyed this super simple card.  I think it’s quite masculine and great for a guy’s birthday. We can’t wait to see what else you come up with!

Jenny
