Hi Everyone!

I’ve been playing around with my new Power Poppy stamps and decided to watercolor some of the Succulent Singles set.   I trimmed a piece of Strathmore 500 5 x 7 watercolor paper in half to create my panel.  I then masked a strip down the centre using Post-It tape.    I used the mini MISTI to stamp some of the images in Versamark ink and then sprinkled the powder on them as I went using Wow Metallic Gold embossing glitter.   I peeled off the masking tape carefully before I heat embossed so that there wouldn’t be any stray bits of powder embossed in lines along the masking paper.

When the piece had cooled I added new Post-It tape back in place to mask the edges. I then used my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors to paint the images.  Nothing fancy, I just created very watered down color to paint each image and then dropped another color into each ‘leaf’ (do succulents have leaves?) for a two tone effect. I then wet all of the outside with clean clear water and dropped in tiny amounts of black to create a soft grey background. I let it dry naturally then peeled off the tape.

I attached the the panel to a base of Neenah Desert Storm kraft card using fun foam to add dimension.  The sentiment from the set was heat embossed in Hero Arts white embossing powder on Desert Storm which I then trimmed out.  I created a nest of gold thread and adhered it with the sentiment and mini glue dots.   As  a finishing touch I added some gold sparkly enamel dots and Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets.

If you haven’t yet discovered Power Poppy, I highly recommend you check out their sets (Simon Says Stamp carries them as well as direct on their site).   They also do some amazing digis which I LOVE for watercoloring.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend,

Jenny x
