Hi everyone,

It is AAA Cards third birthday this week, and while I left the Design Team recently, they were still kind enough to invite me back to Guest Design for the special birthday celebration – yippee!  The challenge this week has tonnes of amazing sponsors and so many ways to win – be sure to enter for your chance.  Make sure to check out the AAA Cards blog for all the details, and the wonderful inspiration from all of the Design Team.

I recently got a couple of new (to me) PinkFresh Studio goodies to play with and one of the stamp sets was perfect for a clean and simple birthday card.   Using a panel of 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock, I stamped the ‘Yippee!’ stamp from PFS’s Party Animals three times using Simon Says Stamp ink in Rosie Cheeks, Rose Apple, and Hot Mama.  Using the MISTI made it possible to perfectly align them.

I then stamped the banner over the top. It comes in two parts, the string (which I stamped in SSS Intense Black) and the flags, which I stamped in an ombre style using the same three colors as before, just tapping the corner of the pad down on the stamp to get the effect.  I stamped the word bubble on separate cardstock in Intense Black and fussy cut it out.  I then adhered it over the Yippees with a foam square.  For a bit of fun, I added the cute cat in the hat from the set down in the bottom corner and coloured in his bowtie and hat with my paintbursh and a bit of the Rose Apple ink smushed on an acrylic block.

I backed the panel onto a 110lb Neenah Solar White cardbase, and as a finishing touch added some Clear Nuvo Drops over the speech bubble (I couldn’t get the Glossy Accents unblocked!)   You can see in this first picture it isn’t quite dry, so it’s still a little cloudy.  In the second picture you can see it fully dry.  Nuvo Drops seem to crack quite a lot when you apply a thick coating – great if that’s the look you’re going for (I wasn’t) so just something to bear in mind!

That’s it for today – be sure to hop on over to the AAA Blog and check out all the fun.  Can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Thank you to the ladies for having me back for a short while. Happy Birthday!

Jenny x
