Happy Nearly Spring everyone!
We have a new challenge over at AAA Cards – and to welcome the new season it’s ‘Shiny Spring’.   We’d like to see a Spring themed card with the optional twist of a shiny element.  There is $20 up for grabs for the winner courtesy of our kind sponsor Happy Little Stampers to spend in their store.
We also have Trina P joining us as our Guest Designer this week.  Be sure to go check out her blog, as well as all the other inspiration the DT have for you!
For my card this week, I used the Ton’s Simple Florals, and stamped the large and small daffodil outline using Simon Says Stamp Lemon Zing, Sunshine (for the centres) and Catkin for the leaves onto a panel of Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock. I used Post-it to mask the blooms to get the overlapped look you see here.

I used my Faber Castell Polychromos to create the shading.  The Daffodils are four different shades of yellow, and the leaves are three different shades of green.  I also used a mid tone grey to give some darker shadows.

My sentiment is by Power Poppy, which I stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed using Ranger Superfine Gold embossing powder. I added some Simon Says Stamp sequins in Sunshine using liquid adhesive.  I then adhered it with double sided tape to a 110lb Neenah Solar White card base.

That’s it – super simple (although the colouring took a while longer than I anticipated!)  I do hope you’ll play along this week, we can’t wait to see what you come up with !

  1. I so love this card Jenny. Love the design with everything in the top left corner. The image is gorgeous, colored beautifully and the gold embossing is the perfect touch. Great minds think alike.
