Hi Everyone

Just a reminder that there is still time to play along with our Time Out Challenge this week – this time we are CASEing Jenny’s card, and it’s a beaut!  We are also sponsored this week by Verve Stamps, who are giving away a stamp set of choice to the winner.   The Design Team all had fun showcasing some of Verve’s stamps that they were kind enough to provide to us, so make sure you go check them out and the DT’s inspiration.

For my card this week I tried to stay true to the original CASE design image.  I die cut a frame from watercolor cardstock using the Lil Inkers Silly Stitched set.   I then stamped the bird and birdhouses from My Favorite Things’ Things with Wings using Versafine Onyx black ink.  I then gave it a light wash of water and blue Peerless watercolors. When dry, I ‘lifted’ some of the color out from the stamped images using a clean water brush and a paper towel. I then colored the images. I used a gold glitter gel pen by Sakura for some embellishment and sparkle.

For the branch, I used a Simon Says Stamp tree branch die cut from kraft cardstock and adhered it with liquid glue.  I used Memento Luxe pigment ink in Olive Grove, Pear Tart and Northern Pine to stamp leaf images from the stamp set.   I then punched some holes and threaded some gold thread to create the strings on the houses.   I popped the whole thing up using fun foam onto a Simon Says Stamp cream card base.
For the sentiment, I used Verve’s New Beginnings stamped on black cardstock and heat embossed with white Hero Arts embossing powder.
And that’s it! Hope you liked it – I think the lifting technique can really save time painting around images and helps you keep a washed background smooth.  Make sure you enter this week for a chance to win a set from Verve!  I’ve included below the inspiration card from Jenny:

Have a wonderful week!

Jenny

  1. Gosh Jenny this is superb, so much detail. I really like the wash and the use of the gold thread. Plus cool way to make the branches by using a die and stamping, great card x

  2. I had no idea that you could "lift" watercolour so cleanly – that is amazing and definitely something that I am going to try – I can't even tell that there was ever any blue on your birdhouses! I love the combination of stamping and die cuts on the branch – a great CASE element on a great card 🙂
