Hi Everyone!

It’s that time of the month again where we ask you to join in the the Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge!  As usual there is $15 to spend in the store up for grabs for the winner.  This month we have Linda guest designing with us and I’m sure you’ll agree her take on the challenge is awesome.

Which brings me to this month’s optional twist – smooshing!  There are plenty of tutorials over on the challenge blog if you aren’t familiar with this technique – I would recommend checking them out – it’s lots of fun!

For my card this week I used the cute umbrella  and sentiment from the HLS Rainy Days stamp set.

To create the card I smooshed Distress Inks onto watercolor cardstock in a variety of blues and greens, drying two or three times between smooshes 🙂  I used a mix of Mermaid Lagoon, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, and Cracked Pistachio. I then embossed the piece with a We Are Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder and adhered it using foam tape to a card base backed with patterned paper in a complementary colour.
I stamped the umbrella in Pumice Stone distress ink and did some no line colouring with the ink.  I then fussy cut out the piece and ran around the edge with a black memento marker.   For the sentiment I heat embossed in white on black cardstock, cut out the strip and adhered it, and popped the umbrella up on top.   As a final touch I added some clear wink of stella glitter pen to the umbrella for sparkle.

So that’s it! Be sure to go check out what the rest of the DT have come up with over at the challenge blog and be sure to take part, and maybe learn a new technique along the way 😀
Have  a great week,
Jenny

  1. LOVE!!! The colours are delightful and I love the layout of your card with the umbrella and strip for the sentiment. The extra sparkle really tops it off! xx
