Hi Everyone!
It’s a new year and time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards.  This week we want you to come up with a CAS Hello card.  There is $15 up for grabs for the winner courtesy of Happy Little Stampers.  We are also joined this week by Guest Designer Valentyna who’s blog is a delight – I strongly recommend checking it out.
For my card this week I was inspired by the bi-lingual graphic, so went with a Japanese Hello 🙂 I used the Winnie & Walter Leaf Effect Stencil over some Ellen Hutson Bristol card and blended over Simon Says Stamp ink in Jellybean and Mint to create a soft ombre effect, fading out towards the top.  I then cut three frames using My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frame from 85lb Neenah Solar White and stacked them on top of each other using glossy accents to adhere and create a thicker frame.  I then trimmed down the blended piece and adhered to the back.  I adhered the piece with glue runner to a standard A2 card base (110lb Neenah Solar White).

For the cherry blossom I used the Avery Elle Konnichiwa stamp set and inked it using copic-safe Memento ink in Gray Flannel for a softer look. I double stamped using my MISTI onto X-Press It cardstock.  I then colored in the image with copics using RV17, R81, E31 and E57.

I cut the image out using my new Christmas pressie – my Scan and Cut 2 (LOVE!!).  I stamped the sentiment on a left over scrap in Versamark and embossed using Ranger Superfine Silver embossing powder.  I then trimmed it and adhered using glossy accents and 3M foam tape.  I then adhered the cherry blossom in the same way.   As a finishing touch  I added Clear Wink of Stella over the petals (you can’t really see it in the photo) and white gel pen for the flower centres.

You can see another cherry blossom branch peeping out from inside the card – I did two and used the spare to give the inside some interest.

I hope you’ll play along with us this week – make sure you check out the rest of the inspiration from the wonderful Design Team over at the AAA blog and link up.

Have a great week!

Jenny
