AAA Cards New Challenge – Christmas!!!

We have a new challenge over at AAA Cards this week – Christmas!!!  It’s only 21 days until Christmas day and we want to see you get into the holiday spirit! There is $20 up for grabs from our sponsors Happy Little Stampers for the winner.

This week we also have Marianne as our Guest Designer.   She has created a gorgeous inspiring card, and I highly recommend checking out her blog, she has some really fab ideas for cards on there!

Now, onto my card.  This week I decided to go back to some good old ink blending.  I die-cut a circle from some Inkadinkado masking paper (using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circle Die) and used the negative to mask over a card base made from Neenah Solar White cardstock (110lb). I then used Distress inks in Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot to mask a ‘night sky’ effect.  I then peeled off the masking paper and it was pretty cool – also the stitched lines had been blended in, which was a happy accident!

I flicked on some water splatters and some splatters of sparkly clear mist by Tattered Angels and left to dry.  In the meantime on the same cardstock I die cut then heat embossed using Ranger Super Fine Silver embossing powder a Star Scribbles image from PaperTrey Ink.

Once the ink was dry I stamped a sentiment from PTI’s ‘Tis the Season (love this set) which I heat embossed in white.

To finish, I added the diecut stars using foam squares for dimension.  This took FOREVER (lots of foam square cutting) so I don’t recommend it !!! (Use fun foam and diecut it with the paper at the same time).
