Hi everyone  – HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the moms, mums and mothers out there!  It is my first proper Mother’s Day today (the english Mother’s Day is in March but we didn’t celebrate as I’m here in the US) so I’m super excited as I write this – to have a day without dirty diapers/nappies which the hub has agreed to do all of !! Woooohoo!!
We have a new challenge at AAA Cards – this week it is your chance to show us your inlaid die-cutting skills – and remember to keep your card Clean and Simple (CAS). Our kind sponsor this week is:
They have $20 up for grabs for the winner!  We also have a new Design Team member – Sandie – her cards are awesome, as are all of the DT so go check out the challenge.
For my card I used the gorgeous Simon Says Stamp Bird of Roses die.  I randomly watercolored some Tim Holtz watercolor card stock using Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Shaded Lilac Distress inks.  Once dry, I die cut the bird from it, ensuring to keep the die all together.  I then die cut the bird twice more – once from  4.25″ x 5.5″ Neenah Solar White 80lb card, and once from silver DCWV foil card stock.

On a 110lb scored Neenah Solar White card base I applied glue runner all over the front and applied the 80lb Solar White card front on top – I’d popped out the die cut leaving just the bird shape.  I then added the foil outline.  Then I proceeded to (painstakingly) add the watercolored shapes into their respective holes.  This goes much quicker as long as you keep the original die cut all together.

To finish the card I stamped a Simon Says Stamp sentiment in Versafine Onyx black ink, fussy cut it out and popped it up on foam squares. I was super happy with how this turned out – definitely one of my favorite cards (if I do say so myself).
We hope you’ll join us over at AAA Cards Challenge.  Remember we have $20 up for grabs from Happy Little Stampers for the winner.  Keep your card CAS to ensure your best chances.

Have a great weekend!!
Jenny
