Happy New Year everyone!!
I’m very excited to be chiming in the new year’s first AAA Cards Challenge. Even more exciting, there are prizes for each of the games this year!
This week’s challenge is ‘Glitter’ and up for grabs we have a $20 voucher courtesy of our generous Sponsor Stampendous!!
For my card, I decided to use Stickles, Color Shine mist and cardstock to add the glitter, and create a layered, pretty card.  I made it for my daughter Ruby, to usher in the new year.
Card recipe:
  1. Create a card base from 110lb Neenah Solar White – 10″ x 3.5″ scored at 5″.
  2. Cut 80lb Neenah Solar White to 5″ x 3.5″ panel.
  3. Stamp Hero Arts Flourish Background stamp in Simon Says Stamp Fog gray ink on panel.
  4. Splatter panel with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Primrose by unscrewing the top and flicking on the color.
  5. Take scraps of paper (I used Pink Fresh Studio, My Mind’s Eye from some 2015 Simon Says Stamp card kits – Dec and October, and some scrap vellum and pink bee paper I had) and adhere to card.  I tore the vellum at one end to create texture, cut a fishtail in another scrap, and popped up another on foam tape.   I also punched a tiny heart out of the pink paper which already had stitched lines on it, for more interest.
  6. Die cut the Simon Says Stamp Chrissy Butterfly from silver DCWV glitter card and popped up on foam tape.
  7. Added a sticker sentiment ‘Dream’ from an old Studio Calico card kit on foam tape (on one side I had to use three layers of foam to ensure it was level.
  8. Add tiny Simon Says Stamp moonshine sequins and pale pink sequins (from Michaels) using Ranger Multi Medium Matte glue.
  9. Add the punched heart under the sentiment on foam tape and coat with Stardust Stickles.
I was super pleased with how this card turned out.  I’ve always admired Shari Carroll’s ability to layer elements to create clean and pretty cards and that is what I’ve tried to do here.

Please join us for the first game of 2016 and remember, it is a Clean and Simple challenge – cards must be CAS to have a chance of winning.

Good luck, and Happy New Year!!

Jenny x

  2. This card is so gorgeous, and soft – such a beauty, but now that I know that it is for Ruby (yes, I am slow in commenting this week), I like it even more. I have 16 year old twins, and they STILL love the card I make for them. I have a memory box that I put them in so that when they hate me, or when I am in another world, they can remember how fabulous I really am/was. LOL. Seriously, this is so pretty. I love the spatters and sparkles and the die cut hear and the tiny sentiment which means so much. Tell Ruby I said Hello.
