Hi Everyone!!
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching so at AAA Cards we are going with a Love/Valentine’s theme ‘Love Me Like You Do’.   I’m sure everyone is making love cards right now, so we can’t wait to see what you come up with!!  This week our kind sponsors are Happy Little Stampers who will give the winner of this week’s challenge $20 to spend in their store – fab!!
So moving onto my card – or I should say cards – for this week.  My plan was to go with a blended distress look, with embossing paste (I feel like it has been far too long since I cracked that out!)   I took two sheets of Tim Holtz watercolor card and heat embossed two of the Vintage Frames from The Ton (AWESOME stamp set, so many possibilities), one in Ranger Liquid Platinum and one in Superfine Silver.  I then masked the frames with masking paper.

For the first card I blended Distress Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry.  I was a little over zealous and it ended up covering the entire card front.  For a more clean and simple look I blended less for my second card using Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover.  I then flicked some water mixed with Perfect Pearls in Perfect Pearl to create sparkly splatters on each.

Before removing the masks, I added embossing paste using the Simon Says Stamp Falling Hearts Stencil.  I added white Dreamweaver embossing paste to the pink card, and Dazzlerz Sour Apple (LOOOOVE this stuff) on the green card.

After it was dry I removed the masks and added some heart stickers and foil sentiments from Crate Paper (included in the February Simon Says Stamp card kit) using foam squares.

Because the paper was slightly warped from all the heating and paste, I used Ranger Wonder Tape to adhere to the card base (110lb Neenah Solar White)  which is super strong and great to flatten out and strongly hold warped paper.
I finished it off with some sparkling clear 4mm sequins from Pretty Pink Posh adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

We do hope you’ll join us over at the AAA Cards Challenge, and remember, there is $20 up for grabs to spend on goodies at Happy Little Stampers!

  1. I love these, Jenny, ink blending is one of my favorite techniques because it gives such fabulous results! The Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet look amazing together and I must try this combination!!

  2. Oh great minds think alike! I LOVE these cards so much. I have many valentines to make over the weekend, and I am so going to pull out that stencil and some more paste. I love your beautiful backgrounds and I love the idea of the perfect pearls in the water for spritzing. I'm going to need these Dazzlerz now. Never heard of them, and you have made me need them. Really love the little frames… just everything. What does Ruby think?
