Hi Everyone,

This week at the AAA Cards Challenge we’re playing with Words!  My friends recently had a baby and I wanted to send them a card, so this was a perfect opportunity.

I die cut the SSS Congratulations word die from DCWV black glitter cardstock (make sure you use a shim – it’s a very detailed die!) and set it to one side.

For my background I used Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and painted it with clean water. I then added some Distress Inks in Salty Ocean, Crushed Pistachio and Peacock Feathers with a paintbrush to create the background.  I built up in two or three layers, drying between each layer.  As a final touch I added some clean drops of water to create a bleached look.

I then stamped the Hero Arts Basic Grey Tiny Star background in Versamark over the top and rubbed on some Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magicals (a pigment powder with shimmer) in Shabby Turbine Teal.  I misted water lightly to set.   The background was die cut with Simon Say Stamp Stitched Rectangles die and distressed with Black Soot Distress ink.  I then adhered the die cut word using my Zig glue pen and popped it all up on foam tape on  a 4.25 x 5.5 SSS Fog card base.  The sentiment is from the Altenew Baby Zoo stamp set, embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder on black cardstock and popped up using foam tape.

A little different to a usual baby card!

I hope you’ll join us over at the AAA Card Challenge this week, where my fellow DT have come up with some other awesome cards for inspiration!

Jenny

P.S. 37 weeks – eek!

  1. What a fabulous non-traditional baby card! I love the background and the little stars are so perfectly "baby"! Wishing you a safe and happy delivery of your own 🙂 Hugs, Jill

  2. I'm with Jane on this one. I saw your nursery on FB, and wow! It is FABULOUS. I love non-cutesy baby things, and this is artsy and gorgeous and luscious. Love the colors and the method you used to create the background. I hope your friends put this in a memory box so baby can appreciate when he/she grows up!!
