Hi everyone,
I have two fun cards to share showcasing all sorts of embossing – dry, paste and heat for the AAA Cards Challenge – Embossing Spectacular.   I couldn’t choose which to go with, so figured I’d go with all of them!!!
My first card has a more girlie feel to it.  I dry embossed some silver Bazzill cardstock with an awesome (extra big!) Anna Griffin Acanthus Cuttlebug embossing folder. This was popped up on 3M foam tape to a card base made from left over Tropical Bay shimmer cardstock from the August  2015 Simon Says Stamp card kit.
I then used a My Favorite Things pierced tag die, cut from Neenah Solar White 80lb, to emboss a cool mini flower stencil from Amy Tangerine using Dreamweaver white embossing paste mixed with some fabulous shimmery paint – Jacquard Lumiere in Turqoise (this stuff is gorgeous – so rich and creamy!).  When it was dry, i spritzed the whole tag with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Tibetan Poppy Teal.  I wish you could see how sparkly it is in real life!!  I then added some shimmery silver twine to the top and popped it up on Best Creation foam squares (also from the card kit).

For my third and final embossing – with heat – I die cut the Winnie & Walter: Cutaways Hugs die from some Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and splodged it with some cool bright pinks from my Zig Clean Color Real Brush set  using a water brush to mix it together as I went.  There are a few pinks in the set and I used two or three of them – unfortunately i didn’t note the colors, so sorry!!  I dipped the entire thing in Versamark ink, coated in Wow Hologram embossing glitter, and heat set.  The photo really doesn’t do it justice how shimmery and sparkly it is!
Finally, I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in the cute Springtime Mix and 4mm sparkling clear (these are from an Ellen Hutson exclusive clear mix but I have provided a link below to the standard 4mm in clear),
My second card is more masculine, although it does have a flower!! I used the same layout, just some slightly different techniques.  The background was a piece of scrap light brown cardstock I had,  embossed with the forever brilliant Tim Holtz Alterations Rivets embossing folder.  For extra cool effect, I used my finger to run a little Viva Decor Metallic rub in gold over the raised areas, and then popped it up on foam tape to a card base made from the leftover card kit Carrot Stick shimmer card stock.
The stencil was applied to the tag in the same way (different picture from the same Amy Tangerine set) however this time I colored the embossing paste in Perfect Pearls Violet.  Not that you can tell – it looked brown to me. Once dry I spritzed with LSG Copper Starburst Spray and popped up on the card with some coppery twine.
For the sentiment I cut Papertrey Ink’s Birthday Trio die from the same shimmer cardstock, and cut it in half.  Attached with some Tombow Mono and popped a foam sticker from the card kit to finish the sentiment. Finished off again with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in 4mm Pumpkin and Sand, as well as a couple of iridescent sequins from The Ton.

Hope you enjoyed the cards!  I think you’ll agree, two very different looks for very similar ingredients.  Plus dry, heat and paste embossing!! Please join us at AAA Cards for the Embossing Spectacular – you have two weeks to enter, we can’t wait to see what you come up with !!

  1. WOW Jenny. These are 2 fantastic cards. Just going through the DT cards, I have learned a whole lot about different embossing techniques! You have done a beautiful job showcasing your embossing skills. Love the effect of the pigment powder with the embossing paste. Wonderful creations. TFS!

  2. Thank you Stephanie!! I decided to bling it up for this one and use colour combos i'd never really done before. I don't think it is possible to have too much sparkle… 😀 I think with the powder in the paste, next time I would use less, might go more purple then – i think I put in too much, hence the darker colour.

  3. Two amazing cards! Loving the colours and sparkle of the first one so much and I'm in awe of your embossing techniques. You really have embraced the spectacular part of the AAA theme!

  4. WOW! You are rockin and rollin the embossing Jenny!
2 fabulous cards and I'm loving the first one in particular mainly because it's shimmering so much and has that hot pink sentiment that draws the eye! Both brilliant embossed showcases though. Sarah

  5. Oooooo, I really like the silver Bazzill cardstock embossed with that embossing folder, Jenny. Beautiful. I love the tags on both and the sentiments on both are super! Great use of all the embossing techniques too. Wow!

  6. I really love how used created a "for him" and "for her" card using the same layout and similar tools but that they are so completely different! I adore the sparkly shininess of the first one – these are my favourite kinds of cards- you can never have too much shimmer! Jill
