Hi Everyone
I’m popping in for a quick post today so apologies for the brevity.  Things have been super hectic this week with work and trying to get the nursery in order, I hadn’t time to properly focus on crafting as much as I wanted.
This week’s AAA Card Challenge is a fun one – ‘Masquerade’. Basically use masking or the masquerade theme to create your card.  There is some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team this week to check out.

For my card, I decided to go with masking, and used the Winnie and Walter In a Word: Cheers word die (LOVE their word dies – so chunky) to do my masking.  I cut the word from Inkadinkado masking paper and stuck the positive on the front of my card slightly below centre of a top folding  card base (11″x 4.25″ scored at 5.5″).  This was made using 110b Papertrey Ink card stock in the beautiful Enchanted Evening color, a sort of bright navy.  Really yummy.

I then proceeded to use the Pyrotechnic stamp set from The Ton stamps (fabulous company, started making stamps I think in January this year) and my MISTI to strategically stamp fireworks from the set in differing sizes, all around the diecut.  I used Versamark ink and only stamped the parts I was going to do in the same color embossing powder.  I then sprinkled on the powder, heat set it, and placed it back on the MISTI to do the next part.  This way i got some cool overlapping embossing looks.
One problem I had was after a few turns at heat embossing, the mask started to unstick.  Quick remedy was to use a bit of Tombow removable tape adhesive, stick it back down and carry on.   I used a variety of sparkly embossing powders from Ranger (Superfine gold, silver and liquid platinum), Wow (Vintage Romance, Vintage Peacock), Zing (Metallic Purple) and Hero Arts White to stamp the fireworks.   Finally the sentiment from the same stamp set was embossed in white.   Make sure you use your EK success powder tool at the start to apply a liberal coating all over the card base!

Removing the masking paper, I was left with the word Cheers printed amongst the fireworks!  Be sure to join us over at the challenge which runs for 2 weeks until August 29th.

Hope you enjoyed  – I’ll be back very soon for another card 🙂

  1. Really fun card Jenny! Love all the different types of embossing powder you used and how you highlighted the centre of the fireworks with different colours – really cool! Jill

  2. My goodness Jenny, this is fabulous!! I went right to The Ton and loaded up some goodies including this stamp set. I just got a Misti and haven't cracked it open yet. Wish you could show me some tricks! Anyway, the masking that you've done on this creation is so wonderful. The EP's are so perfect, and the whole thing is so sparkly. Great take on the challenge. Love it.
