I’m so excited, I started Kath Racoosin’s 30 Day Color Challenge today. OK a couple of days late but better late than never right!! #thedailymarker30day2 😀
My coloring medium of choice today are the Derwent Metallic pencils. I picked these up when I visited the Cumberland Pencil Museum in Cumbria in January this year. I’m originally from the UK and as a child (and ok I’ll admit it, an adult without children) I went here more than my fair share. It’s a great place to learn about how pencils are made, take kids to do some fun activities and of course, buy pencils! (My husband came with me this year and got some awesome pencil cufflinks made from slices of actual colored pencils!!) I highly recommend it (and the area) if you are ever in town.
Onto the card. These pencils work far better on black or dark cardstock, and in the light they really show their colors, although remain quite subtle. As it’s Fathers Day soon I thought this would be a great medium for a dad card.
I’ve also done my FIRST VIDEO (hurray, finally!) showing how I made the card.
I don’t think its took bad for a first attempt. If you like it, please give me a thumbs up and maybe even a comment. I’ll try to do more of them – Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire make them look so easy. (They aren’t!)

Well done! You do sound confident! I didn't know about those Derwent's. I use their inktense all the time. So happy you did this, Ho rah! Looked wonderful!
Just had a chance to see your video. Awesome job!!! You'd never know it was your first. I went to SSS and put those metallic pencils in my cart! I want to visit the pencil museum – right up my alley. Have your been to the Crayola museum in PA? Anyway, congrats on your maiden voyage into video land. It was lovely to hear your voice!
Great video Jenny – you definitely came across like you'd been making them forever and I'd have never guessed that this was your first one. I actually picked up those pencils at Michaels a few months ago too but only made one card with them so far. I'm inspired pick them up again! Jill
